MY JOB SEARCHING IS STILL GOING ON...

Wheewww! Why is it so hard to find a job here? Is it because of the bad economy we have right now? As far as I remembered with one job I applied before, the employer said there were 130 applicants for such one job they posted. All I said is a big "WOOOWW!" I never expected it that way wherein my chance to get that job is pretty slim because of how many applicants we were. I don't know whom they hired but I told myself that she will be so lucky for having such job because the employer is so nice as well as the starting pay is real good with $11 per hour since most jobs here pay starting from $8-$10 and higher pay for positions with bigger responsibilities.

I kept asking myself why I have the hard time looking for a job that fits my qualifications even I do have a Bachelor's degree. I already shared to you the interviews I've been through but not even one hired me. I do have work experiences before when I was still in the Philippines but I really can't understand why it looks like no one wants to hire me even with the education and experiences I have before. Am I overqualified for those employers who consider my education and previous work experiences or underqualified for those who don't? I really don't know.

I even tried to apply for Accounting jobs which is my field but sad to say no one hires me yet. Honestly I sent my resume many times to different companies online or by mail or by fax but only few gave me a call for job interview and most of them won't ever call me just to say they got it or not. I asked my husband is that how the system here works when applying for a job since most companies here will just accept online applications. Only a few gave me a call or sent me a letter or an email acknowledging they got my application and I truly appreciate such professional gesture. But most of them won't and that's the reality. There were even few who told me after the interview that they will give me a call but they never did. Then when you tried to make a follow up call, you will never get a chance to talk to them anymore. Honestly, it's so discouraging on my part as an applicant because it sounds they are giving false hope to me. I even told my husband and my friend why they won't just tell me frankly that I didn't make it or they will give me a call if I will be hired then if they won't then it means I didn't make it so that I won't expect anything from them. I think that sounds fair enough for the employer and applicant as well when doing it that way right? Is there really fair and equal opportunity for everyone here when applying for a job? Are all applicants evaluated without regard to race, color, religion, gender, national origin, physical, age, marital or veteran status. If the job will have weekend work and I will tell the employer that I can't work on Sundays because of my religious beliefs, do you think I will have a big chance to be hired than the one who can work on Sundays if it will be based on my education and work experiences? Well I am really looking for a job that will not have Sunday work because I will be starting again as a Back-up Vocal in our church music team.

Wish me luck for my job interview tomorrow as I am applying for a caregiver position. My friend's mom is the one who told me to apply for such job there because she's working as a caregiver in that company. Hope I will be hired so that my job searching will finally end soon.
